[ARCHIVED] Message From the Mayor

Mayor Corcoran

Dear Friends and Residents,

As I write this, winter is reading one more Artic Blast.   Our Street Department has been very busy over the last few months plowing and salting.  They do a great job keeping the streets clear.  Unfortunately, under the recently announced City/County Merger plan form the “Advocacy” group “Better Together”, our street department, along with our police and building department would be eliminated.  These services would be provided by a new mega “Metropolitan” Government based in downtown St. Louis.  “Better Together” has filed a petition for a statewide election in November 2020.  More information on this “plan” and its impact on St. Ann will be forthcoming.

2019 will see major street repair projects begin on Ashby Rd. and Old St. Charles Rd.  These two projects will total around $1.7 million and will be partly paid for by Federal Grants.  We will also be continuing our maintenance program on neighborhood streets.

During late summer and early fall more park improvement projects will be undertaken.  A  new large playground at Tiemeyer Park will replace an old and outdated one next to the shelters.  Tennis courts in Schafer and Tiemeyer Parks will also be resurfaced.  LED lighting, fencing and a renovation to the club house at the golf course round out this year’s projects.  These projects are all possible due to your support of the 2017 Park Bonds.

The old Quick Trip has new owners and they are beginning the process to re-open as a Mobil on The Run or BP Branded Convenience Store\Gas Station. The shopping center that has St. Vincent de Paul also has new owners.  They are planning significant upgrades and already have a convenience store\deli that wants to go in the old Radio Shack Space.   Burger King has just completed a renovation.  A new retail center is under construction next to Circle K.   Waffle House, on the vacant lot at St. Timothy and the Rock Rd is also still in the process of moving forward.  Finally, I would like to welcome Save-a-Lot and American Family Insurance and their 600+ employees to the Crossings.
