City operations are divided into the following departments: Administration, Building & Zoning, Parks & Recreation, Police and Public Works and Animal Control. The City employs 95 full-time and several dozen part-time/seasonal employees.
The City does not provide fire protection or emergency medical service. Fire protection and emergency medical service are provided by either the Community or West Overland Fire Protection Districts which are separate political subdivisions from the City and levy their own property tax.
Electric, Natural Gas, Water, Telephone, Trash and Cable Television service are provided by private companies which are granted franchise rights to serve the City. Residents must contact these service providers directly to establish these services.
